ABOUT HXC
The “Hua xia Cup” is jointly proposed by mathematics experts, university professors and front-line mathematics teachers. It focuses on students’ mastery and understanding of knowledge points and has very high requirements on students’ innovation ability and mathematical application ability. Awards include standing top prizes, special prizes and first, second and third prizes. Winning the Huaxia Cup has high value and enhances the core competitiveness of winning students for further studies.
The “Hua Xia Cup” activities are mainly for the first grade of primary school to the third grade of secondary school, ie. Grade 9. The schedule includes a local regional/country-level Trial round and finals. Hundreds of thousands of people participate every year. Taking the Hong Kong competition area as an example, about 30,000 students participate every year. , has become one of the most influential local primary and secondary school mathematics competitions.

Registrations are Open Now for Trial Rounds (Country Level Rounds). Online Registrations Only.
Last Date of Registration: April 6, 2025.
Fees: INR 1600 per participant (student). Discounts available on multiple competitions or multiple entries.
Fees include: Access to some past papers and answer keys as downloadable soft copies.
HXC Trials online exam login credentials, schedule and exam instructions will be provided by email after registrations close one week before the exam.
Registration through G.O.A. is open only for students in India or Indian students with a valid Indian address.
Students who get Gold/Silver/Bronze honours may then apply for HXC Finals held in a different country by paying an additional registration fee. Please treat HXC Finals as a separate competition as it might require travel and even if held online, the registration fees is much higher.
How to Prepare for the Olympiad
- You will receive some past papers access with answer keys on registration for many Olympiads. This will be assigned as a course to you under the “My Courses” section of this website when you login to you account.

HXC Trial
(Local Trial Round)
Students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 (Academic year 2024 – 2025)
Contest Time
- Grade 1to Grade 6 – 60 minutes
- Grade 7 to Grade 9 – 75 minutes
Exam Format
- Section A: 10 questions, 5 marks each
- Section B: 10 questions, 7 marks each
- Total 20 questions, 120 marks
- Language: In English
- Question Format: All are Open ended questions

HXC Finals
(Final Global Round)
Students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 (As per Academic year 2024-2025)
Eligibility: Get gold, silver or bronze honour award in local trial round of 2023-24 HXC Open
Question Format
- All are Open ended questions
- Registrations for Award winners of HXC trials will begin after results.
- Grade 1 to Grade 9
Contest Time
- 90 minutes for all Grades
Exam Format
- Section A: 10 questions, 3 marks each
- Section B: 10 questions, 5 marks each
- Section C: 5 questions, 8 marks each
- Total 25 questions, 120 marks
- Language: In English
HXC Finals will be held in a different country. It might be held Online due to the pandemic depending on the situation.
AIMO Finals contestants will also participate in WMGO (World Mathematics Games Open) at no additional cost.
HXC Trial
(Local Trial Round)
- Gold honor: Top 10% of students in each group
- Silver honor: Next 20% of students in each group
- Bronze honor: Next 30% of students in each group
* Awarding e-certificates will be given to students with gold, silver and bronze honours. Remaining students will get participation award. There are no medals, only e-certificates.
* The exact awarding percentage will be slightly adjusted if some of the students are getting same marks.
All the awarding is as per country percentile scores.
Only HXC Trial award (Gold, Silver & Bronze only) winners will be eligible to apply for AIMO Finals.
Please note that all expenses and fees for HXC Finals has to be borne by students/parents which will be notified to them once registration opens for HXC Finals for eligible students.
Please treat HXC Trials and HXC Finals as separate competitions. Students eligible for Finals who do not register for Finals will still receive their HXC Trials awards.
HXC Finals
(Final Global Round)
- Champion: The 1st student in each group
- Outstanding Award: The top 10 students in each group
- Gold honor : Top 10% of students in each group
- Silver honor: Next 20% of students in each group
- Bronze honor: Next 30% or higher than the required mark
* Awarding certificates and medals will be given to students with gold, silver and bronze honors.
* Trophy cups will be given to champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and national star.
* The exact awarding percentage will be slightly adjusted if some of the students are getting same marks. Students born later will be given the preference for awards when they have the same scores.
All the awarding is as per global percentile scores.
HXC Union
Hua Xia Cup is a collaborative international organisation among Asian mathematical research organisations and individuals.
As an educational institution, the Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad (HKMO) has been committed to improving the mathematics level of Hong Kong students for many years since its establishment in 2004, promoting Mathematical Olympiad training and exchanges among students from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. It organizes and co-organizes a number of large-scale competitions every year, including the famous ” China Cup”, “Hong Kong and Macau Cup”, etc., has created many firsts, such as coordinating the most large-scale Mathematical Olympiad competitions, holding the most age group Mathematical Olympiad competitions, leading the most Hong Kong and Macao students and parents to participate in overseas Mathematical Olympiad competitions, etc., and has won praise and recognition from all walks of life. The Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad Association joined the Asian International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) in 2011 and became one of the member regions, including various provinces in China, Chinese Taipei, Macau, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and other places, and held the first session Asian International Mathematical Olympiad Open. The association also established a directly affiliated organization in 2012, the Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad Association Charity Foundation.
